Don’t Judge a Book by the Cover
Just a cliche?
Well, try applying that when you meet people. Try taking a sincere interest in every person you are connecting with and really listen to who they are and what they are doing.
A car salesman on the job for just a few weeks was standing in the showroom next to three seasoned salesmen. As they stood there scanning the parking lot for potential customers driving in, they saw two scruffly looking guys in overalls covered with dirt and grease walking among the new trucks.
The three seasoned salesmen quickly turned and found something else to do. The new salesman walked eagerly into the parking lot and approached the two men. Their appearance was even worse up close.
As they began to talk about a new truck, it became quickly apparent that the truck they were looking for was a special order. The young salesman ordered the $48,000 truck and was rewarded with a handsome commission check.
The two men… well, they owned and operated a multi-million dollar aluminum boat manufacturing company and had taken their lunch hour to shop for trucks.
The young car salesman took such good care of the two scruffly looking guys that they repeatedly referred their friends to him.
